Global aid
As a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Societies, we are involved in the eradication of major humanitarian disasters and in the alleviation of the affected population’s suffering.
Our movement is global, we have National Societies like the Hungarian Red Cross in 190 countries. Our International disaster response mechanisms build mainly on local resources. However, in the event of disasters that overload local capacities, our National Associations will assist each other. In the event of a shortage of specially trained professionals, we also contribute to disaster management by providing our volunteers and staff with the appropriate experience.
Global fundraising campaigns
Monetary donation is the best aid for a disaster-hit remote country. The delivery of various material goods is time-consuming, the shipping costs can be significant, moreover, they are subject to complicated customs and other procedures. In case of disasters, the Hungarian Red Cross joined to the Emergency Appeal of the International Federation, initiates a local fundraiser in order to help the community of the affected country.
Bilateral missions
If a major disaster strikes one of our neighbouring countries, we provide direct assistance through the relevant Red Cross National Society. In bilateral or multilateral missions, we offer our technical equipment, our experts, and in addition also deliver relief supplies to affected areas. During the missions the staff of the Hungarian Red Cross is deployed under the coordination of the local Red Cross or Red Crescent National Society.
