Law of 1993 regarding the Hungarian Red Cross
The activity of the National Societies – belonging to the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, including the Hungarian Red Cross – is governed by the 1949 Geneva Conventions, their 1977 Additional Protocols and the Statutes of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement adopted in Geneva in October, 1986. The activity of the Hungarian Red Cross is regulated by the XL. law of 1993.
In accordance with the international and the Hungarian law, the Hungarian Red Cross in cooperation with and complementing the activities of the Hungarian authorities, assists the authorities in the execution of the humanitarian obligations described by the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols.
