National First Aid Competition

The Hungarian Red Cross has been organizing its first aid competitions in an elimination competition system since 1971. The aim of the event is to ensure that young people expand and practice their first aid skills. The competition takes place in three categories (child, youth, adult). The winners of the regional final qualify for the county final and those who perform well can enter the nationals. Each year, the National First Aid Competition (OEV) finals are hosted by a county seat where participants can compete in realistic situations thanks to the accident imitators. On the circular track that has 20 stations, the contestants can demonstrate their theoretical and practical first aid skills.

The aim of the competition:

• To promote and teach first aid effectively
• To popularize willingness to help and other humanitarian ideas
• To further the theoretical and practical knowledge of Red Cross first aid providers

Child category

Children attending the 5th–8th grade in a public educational institution.

Youth category

Children attending the 9th–13th grade in a public educational institution.

Adult category

People over the age of 18 who

• are not professional emergency workers
• have no healthcare qualifications
• are not professional healthcare workers
• have not completed the second year of their tertiary health professional education

The competition consists of 3 rounds: regional round, county round and the national finals.

The winning team in each category will qualify for the next round.
