Wars and disasters throughout the history of mankind have caused immeasurable suffering in the world. All of us have seen abandoned elderly people, starving, shivering or sick children, or families losing their homes. People sympathise with others’ misfortune, but they are not able to wipe all the tears, and cannot take care of all those who are in need.
This is the mission of the Red Cross. Regular help for the wounded and vulnerable was first organised by the Swiss Henry Dunant, founding father of the Red Cross, by establishing a worldwide humanitarian movement.
The Hungarian Red Cross joined this crusade more than130 years ago. Its main tasks include blood donor recruitment, first aid, social welfare, disaster management and Red Cross Youth activities. Its Tracing Service restores family links broken as a consequence of armed conflicts or natural disasters. The Hungarian Red Cross county, town and area branches cover the entire country. Unconditional help and the permanence of charity is the way, how the Red Cross with its volunteers cares for the weak and vulnerable. Red Cross volunteers are those exceptional people, who give their time, talent, enthusiasm and support to serve the needs of others and help improve their lives while asking for nothing in return but the satisfaction of giving.
The Hungarian Red Cross carries out its humanitarian activities relying mostly on donations. If you are ready to support the programs of the Hungarian Red Cross, please contact us or forward your contribution to our account number as below.
